Worry

Read Philippians 4

The timeliness of God’s word in scripture never ceases to amaze me.  It has been a challenging week apart from my family.  I miss Michelle and the kids more than I can express and there have been times when worry has ruled my thoughts.  I’ve been reading Philippians this week and this morning I turned to The Message version of chapter 4 (the same text I’m preaching on Sunday BTW) and read,

6 Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. 7 Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

Timely words for my soul this morning.  So may our worry be replaced with prayer today.  May we know that God is fully present with us and that God is good.  Be our center, Lord.
